Improvisation

The art of Improvisation.

Playing music is one thing. Composing music is another. But having the ability to create melodies pieces, or just whatever you feel like with the only driving force of instinct? Now that’s something special.

This is the art of Improvisation. Improvisation is a form of expressing an individual’s musical style and creativity. Surely enough, nearly anyone can go up to an instrument, be it piano or guitar, and play random keys/strings. But most of the time in order to produce ‘music’ (unless you were trying to impersonate modern style of course) a little bit of thought should be put into what notes to play. That is usually the question of people who first start out. Or some musicians may know how to improvise, but their style is a sort of cliché. How do we make our improvisation sound interesting??

What is to follow from here is not a step by step method on how to improvise, for improvisation is a free-form, and can flow in many directions. This is more of a insight as to how certain improvisers such as myself, see things, and how the simple tools can create whatever you want it to. In the end, the improvisation is really up to you, how you use these tools, or whether you create your own material yourself.

Only then will you achieve a sense of individuality.
